The mission of FIRST Robotics is to show students of every age that science, technology, and problem-solving are not only fun and rewarding, but are proven paths to successful careers and a bright future for us all.
Clark Magnet’s team participates in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). FRC teams are tasked with designing, fabricating, programming and testing a robot for a new game every year. This build season lasts just six weeks and enables to gain real-world engineering and team-building skills.
Skills developed in FRC:
- Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM)
- Electrical engineering
- Mechanical engineering
- Web design
- Time management
After the six week build season, teams from all over the world travel to local regional and district events to compete. The top team are invited to the FRC World Championship in St. Louis. Although FRC is competitive in nature, teams are encouraged to support each other and work to promote science and engineering both within their school, and society at large.
Clark’s team, Team 696 The Circuit Breakers, has been innovating since its inception in 2001. Since then, Team 696 alumni have gone on to top universities and have found exciting careers in a wide range of fields, not just engineering.
